Action, Self-documentation, Mediterranean Sea, Israel 2023Art allows me to utter a death wish, by virtue of its wondrous capacity to die without dying. I use the body as raw material. Through it I sculpt different manifestations of cessation. What is cessation, and how does it stand opposed to action: I drown, I fall, I burn. Sovereignty over my body consists in applying the artistic act to myself, I am both the one who kills and the one who gives life. In my body I swim to the mythic rock of Andromeda and bind myself to it, naked, to be devoured by monsters. In a rereading of the story of Andromeda’s abduction, I swim in my body to a rock in the open sea and bind myself to it, naked, to be devoured by monsters.
