WOMAN FALLS FROM A BALCONY
Performance (25 min) SVT Jerusalem, Israel 2018
I regard the act of falling, as I understand it, as a psychological default. Within it, the “falling woman” fulfills her foreknown fate. In the work, the mechanism of death and rebirth is gradually revealed, fall after fall after fall forming a cruel loop. The woman is trapped in it, helpless, and it seems we are as well. Through this circular mechanism of falling, time is blurred, as is the chronological shape of cause and effect. The pursuit of truth shifts into an accumulation of psychic impressions. The enigmatic nature of death stands as the question that impels me to act, an action that does not remain a private tragedy but carries with it a gender-historical doubt about the choice to die.
